Book Synopsis
Ma Jiahui was a diligent and kind wife and mother, silently enduring the various grievances and abuses inflicted by her husband, Chu Yin. Under the guise of "filial piety," Chu Yin forced his wife to drink the water used to wipe Ma Jiahui's corpse, attempting to demonstrate his devotion and gain recognition from both family and society. However, this was merely a façade to mask his selfishness and hypocrisy. Not only did he have an affair outside their marriage, but he also tightly controlled the family finances, ignoring his wife's sacrifices.
The story unfolds through a bowl of Corpse-Wiping Water, revealing Chu Yin's true nature and the immense harm he caused to his family members, especially to his wife. Ultimately, with the help of their daughter, Chu Yuntian, Ma Jiahui bravely stood up against injustice, exposing Chu Yin's true character and reclaiming hope and dignity for her future. This experience was not only a profound reflection on Filial Piety but also a poignant display of the deep bond between mother and daughter.
