Book Synopsis
The pungent smell of disinfectant filled the air as I slowly opened my eyes. What greeted me was a stark white hospital room and the dim sky outside the window.
"You’re awake," he said, sitting by the bed, his gaze fixed on a report in his hands. His tone was calm, as if he were recounting something unrelated to him.
"Mm." I responded softly, wanting to reach out for his hand but freezing mid-air. "How is everything at the company...?"
Finally, he shifted his gaze to me, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Don’t worry, I’ve made my decision. None of that matters anymore."
I stared at him in a daze. The tenderness in his eyes was something I had never seen before, yet when he spoke the next sentence, it felt like falling into an ice cave. "Lu Wanting... she..."
