Book Synopsis
A carriage suddenly burst forth from the narrow path, hooves kicking up clouds of dust.
The coachman let out a startled "Ah!" as a stray bullet struck him, causing his body to lurch violently and tumble from the jolting carriage.
The horse, frightened, neighed loudly and bolted straight toward the crowd, its eyes wide with terror.
In that fleeting moment of chaos, the Bandits lost their composure, panic etched on their faces as they shouted and scattered in all directions.
Zhang Yanniann furrowed his brow, his gaze sharpening. With a swift leap forward, he moved like a cheetah.
He quickly raised his rifle, arm extended and steady as he aimed at the Bandit Leader. With a firm squeeze of the trigger, a loud "Bang!" echoed as the bullet flew out, striking the Bandit Leader who immediately bled profusely and fell with a scream.
"Get moving! Rescue the prince!" His voice boomed with urgency, eyes filled with determination.
Those around him finally reacted, hastily brandishing their weapons and shouting as they surrounded the remaining Bandits. The air was filled with the sounds of battle cries.
The weight of worry that had hung over him finally eased. He let out a long breath, his chest rising and falling slightly.
His gaze shifted to the side of the road where a gentle voice emerged from the carriage that had toppled into the bushes. The orange curtain was lifted, revealing Top Spike resting on a slender finger, swaying slightly.
She poked her head out, her eyes wide with panic and filled with fear. Her dark eyes seemed to possess an enchanting power that tightened around his chest, making his heart skip a beat.
